Cedar Ridge Applying For Grant

Cedar Ridge School District is applying for the Arkansas 21st Century Community Learning Center Grant for the 2015-16 school year.  Cedar Ridge already has a 21st CCLC funded grant for grades 3-8.  This new opportunity would enable the school to add grades K-2.

If Cedar Ridge School is awarded these funds, it will receive five years of continuation funding based on annual evaluation, phasing of local effort and continuing pending federal allocations.

The primary purpose of the 21st Century Commuity Learning Center program is to establish learning centers that operate during out of school hours.  It can provide students with intensive academic enrichment opportunities along with other activities designed to complement the regular academic program.  The program will also offer literacy and related educational services to families of the targeted students.

A community learning center offer academic, artisitc, and cultural enrichment opportunites to students and their families when school is not in session, such as after school, on Satudays, and during the summer.

It can assist students in meeting state and local academic achievement standards in core academic subjects, such as reading and math, by providing the students with opportunities for academic enrichment.

The grant is supported through the federal No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 and will be awarded on a competitive basis.
